Bee Totem … and My Kundalini Experience
December 11, 2007
By Dove, www.TarotwithLove.com {added my experience with the Kundalini in the first comment} I see several people have been viewing my MS Paint pic, “Rising.” A picture that came through me not long ago (I never plan to paint anything in particular, I just start playing with the colors and shapes, and it becomes whatever it becomes. And I only started doing this in MS Paint a few months ago. Before that, I’d only done a few pics by hand).
I found this image fascinating because a snake (that I believe is representing the Kundalini) wanted to be there (as mentioned in that post, I resisted putting it there initially) and because the interpretation I googled after doing the pic, seemed to correlate with both the image and previous experiences that I’ve had, that also was very intriguing. It says, “The Phoenix that I know is a traveler going through the inky vastness of space” and, in looking at my Phoenix pic, that seems to be a perfect description of what my bird is doing :)
The thing that’s on the Phoenix, that looks like a beehive to me, well, I’m wondering if that’s what it actually is supposed to be. I started thinking about how they’re saying the bees are disappearing…and maybe this hive is a little hint of the significance of that.
Anyway, so I thought I’d gather a few bee totem interpretations here for further pondering. I know the bee is a potent totem, about accomplishing the “impossible.” Bees are on the Lovers card in the Animal-Wise Tarot deck (by Ted Andrews), so that reminds me that it’s also about sexuality. And the phrase “busy as a bee” is also a reminder of it’s being symbolic of work or working. But it’s interesting that the hive is placed here with the Phoenix and Kundalini, and not the bee…but where the bee lives and works. I see no bees in or around it.
Well, my observation would be this, “if I knew what this is representing” (a spin from the Vanzant diva, heh), it seems this powerful energy (Phoenix) is rising up from the earth, which is us, so it’s also rising up in us (Kundalini). The Kundalini (the “God” that is within all of us — that is us) is our power rising up (our “awakening” to that which we truly are) to bring about our freedom from the oppression and exploitation (all we f*ckin’ do is work, and most of us so as to make others richer while we become more like slaves) that has continued to get worse and worse.
To me, it all mirrors a bit in the Bible, and my favorite part where Moses says, “Let my people go.” Moses’ Kundalini (”God-power”) had risen, his “snake” was definitely up there in that moment, heh ;)
Peace,
Dove

Bee Totem…
Fertility and the Honey of Life,
Accomplishing the Impossible
Bees are the symbol of fertility and sexuality.
Its honeycomb, a hexagon, is the symbol of the heart and
represents the sweetness of life found within our own heart.
It is also the symbol of the sun and all its energies.
The bee reminds us to extract the honey of life
and to make our lives fertile (productive) while the sun shines.
No matter how great the dream is, there is the promise of fulfillment
if we pursue our dreams.
If a Bee has shown up in your life, examine your own productivity.
Are you doing all you can to make your life more fertile?
Are you busy enough?
Are you making time to savor the honey of life and not becoming a workaholic?
The Bee is the symbol of accomplishing the impossible.
Aerodynamically, its body is too large for its wings and should not be able to fly.
Although now we understand how it does fly (high rate of wing movement),
the Bee remains a symbol of accomplishing anything you put your mind to
In Hinduism, the Bee relates to Vishnu, Krishna or Kama, the God of Love.
In Egypt, the Bee symbolized royalty.
In Greece, it was the symbol of the Eleusinian Mysteries.
The Celts associated the Bee with hidden wisdom

Bee - The bee is the messanger of the gods. If he comes buzzing into your life, take note. You may be receiving a message from Spirit. Alternately, you could be getting a message to do a little less and just be still for awhile! When we take the time to just be, we clear our minds to receive divine guidance.

The Bumble Bee
Unlike the honeybee, the bumblebee usually has fewer individuals in its colony. They do not store large amounts of honey like the honeybee does. Bumblebees are one of the few insects that can control their body temperature. In cold weather the queen and her workers can shiver their flight muscles to warm themselves allowing them to fly and work at lower temperatures than most other insects. Their large size and hairy coat also helps to keep them warm.
Yogi masters have been known to quiet their heartbeat and adjust their body temperatures when in an altered state. This skill is linked to the ancient initiations of mastering the body, mind and spirit. Those with this totem usually have strong past life ties connected to the ancient secrets of longevity and can benefit from the study and practice of yoga. They also make good hypnotherapists.
All bees are productive. They remain focused in their activities and do not get distracted from their goal. Their legs are one of their most sensitive organs. A bee actually tastes through its legs and reminds us to slow down, smell the roses and taste the sweet nectar of life. Hypoglycemia and diabetes can sometimes occur in those who carry this medicine. Therefore daily exercise and good nutrition is advised.
The bumblebee carries the power of service. They are important pollinators of many plants. As a bee lands upon one flower, collecting its nectar, pollen also attaches itself to the leg fibers. It is then transferred to other flowers, creating a fertilization process. Their movement from one plant to another symbolizes the interconnectedness of all living things. The bumblebee is a messenger that holds the secrets of life and service.
If your energy is scattered the bumblebee can show you how to regain focus. If it stings you, it is saying, wake up and follow the rhythm of your own heartbeat. When a bumblebee buzzes you it is asking you to follow its lead. In so doing you will arrive at the destination most appropriate for your new life awakening.

Bumble Bee
Bee is the ancient symbol of good fortune, joy and harmony. In the dream world, bee comes as a gift from Spirit. He buzzes about in order to awaken us into the moment. Alert and aware, we see that life is sweet and filled with brightness, color and light. Bee also teaches us to engage fully in our creative endeavors. The key is to focus with intention and to be single-minded in purpose. Finally, bee shows us that all life is interdependent.

I thought I’d share an interesting experience I had several years ago regarding the Kundalini.
I was taking this dream class (living in a “big city” in the South) several years ago during a wild period when it seemed the Universe was endeavoring to extract me from my “normal” way of thinking/being. It was the summer and I’d just lost my job per an unimaginable experience that essentially cost me my job. It “came” to me shortly thereafter that there was no way I could have prevented that loss. Yet again, it was time for me to “move on.” So many times during my own Frodo’s journey, it’s been like I was to go certain places, learn certain things, and then something invariably happened to ensure I’d have to move on…
I somehow managed to survive another year (unemployed) in this metro area and then was given a “miraculous” opportunity to move to a quiet, peaceful place for awhile (this move happened only days before 9-11). That too has been an interesting part of my journey. I’ve gone on these “wild” (for mild-mannered me) adventures, surviving by the skin of my teeth, and then there’s invariably been a period of peace after them. Almost like the Universe is saying, “Okay, you got that one outta the way, here’s your reward for hangin’ in there.” :)
Um, as usual, I got off track there. Back to the dream class (taken right after the unemployment happened) and the Kundalini. I had heard the term “Kundalini,” but that’s about it. During this dream class, we were instructed to meditate and spur our Kundalini to rise up. There were maybe 20 or so people in the class. Everyone was asked to describe what they saw (in their mind’s eye) after this meditation. Only one woman saw nothing.
It fascinated me that everyone except for that one woman, not only saw their Kundalini, but they each saw it SPIRAL up their spine. We had been told to have it go up to our foreheads. So eveyone saw that. I was the only one that saw something a little different at that point.
When my “Kundalini” got to my forehead, it opened its mouth WIDE. I mean really wide, I’m talking 180-degrees wide. And then it blew fire like an inferno.
I told the class and teacher, “Man, I think my snake was really pissed, it was blowing fire like crazy.” lol Everybody cracked up ;)
But the teacher seemed impressed, she said that what I saw was the actual archetype of the Kundalini, “the fire-breathing snake.” And that was something I knew nothing about, so no power-of-suggestion there. Pretty cool, eh? ;)

Thanks CV! I think I have a strong connection to that snake energy, so there ya’ go — like attracts like :)
But I’m the lovely pig (haha) in the Chinese astrology. Here’s one interpretation for the pig:
===========
PIG: You are a splendid companion, an intellectual with a very strong need to set difficult goals and carry them out. You are sincere, tolerant, and honest but by expecting the same from others, you are incredibly naive. Your quest for material goods could be your downfall. The Pig would be best in the arts as an entertainer, or possible a lawyer.
======================
See, some of this is very true, but some of it isn’t, and some of it used to be :) I’m not that big on “difficult goals” … I’ll agree with the naive thing (at times). The material thing was true in the past, very much not so now. I am very honest, to a fault at times. I love the thought of being an artist. Not so much an entertainer, but I do love it when I make people laugh :) I think I mentioned on here that I did take paralegal courses, and was also encouraged toward, and even considered, becoming a lawyer for about a nano-second :)
