This post was spurred by a counter view.  That is, that vegetarianism is healthful for all of us.  It isn’t.  Believing this years ago, I too tried vegetarianism for a few years, and was even vegan for awhile.  Lotsa soy, veggies, whole grains, seaweed, and the absolutely imperative supplementation.  My health issues worsened.  And one day, in this state of ill-health, I very clearly heard my “spiriutal voice,” indicating that I should “eat tuna.”  My response was, “Whaaat, I’m a vegetarian, I don’t wanna eat meat.”  But I begrudgingly tried it (at the time, that was about the only reasonably healthful meat I could afford), and my health did improve…but I still didn’t eat any red meat for a long time.  And only recently did I begin to do so — free-range, organic, well-cared for animals.

I totally believe that mainstream meat is unhealthy — and that we should be eating lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains (and nix all the refined crap).  But with my recent health improvement upon eating some red meat each week, I very much believe — at least some of us — do need red meat to be healthy.  I think many vegetarians are in denial about it, they look haggard, too skinny — rarely robust and the picture of health –particularly long-time vegetarians.  It simply doesn’t make any sense…   A natural, healthful diet should not REQUIRE supplementation of things like B12 and CoQ10…  Vegetarians have plenty of health issues as well…

Vegetarians often say that eating meat is disgusting, or “gross.”  But, uhhh, you could view in the same way many things about being a human being.  It’s not so delicate and lovely to have a bowel movement either, but — as human beings – that’s necessary too :)  Additionally, it’s not really “saving” animals.  Animals eat animals, to save one you’d have to allow the deaths of others…  I do not believe we are above or more wise than animals (in many areas, quite the contrary), we are human animals

What we truly need in this area is balance, not excess (or another extreme), and most especially we need to treat our animals with respect.  They are sacred, as are we…  Native Americans also saw animals as sacred, but they still ate them.  They trusted the process of “Nature.”  So much wisdom to be gained simply by observing and respecting Nature.

Here’s an article per a site that I feel is very valuable, a lot of great information.  The guy who writes it, does take the counterview on vegetarianism — it’s my understanding that’s he’s not really a long-time vegetarian…  But this is an excellent site to learn about nutritional products and such.  He seems to have much integrity and a lot of fire in his heart about the corruption in the medical/pharmaceutical industries…  And that I greatly admire.

He allows comments at the bottom of his articles, and on this one many veteran vegetarians who’ve now left behind that way of eating have counter comments…including me :)  Many who clearly had the vegetarian experience and realized it was not a good thing for them.  This article is also about manifesting and he (Mike) seems to feel that it’s hindered by eating meat — again, many disagree with that.  And that’s what the second part of my comment (see below) is about.  Note, he seems to hold all the comments until he has several and then posts them, so I did not see any of the other comments prior to mine being posted.  Here’s the one I posted (and the link to the article and other comments):

Mike, I agree with most of what you say, both in general and in this article. But the one area that you seem to have a blind spot in is that of eating red meat, and you also don’t mention an exceedingly important aspect of manifesting better things in one’s life. And its that last thing that hinders (or helps) us. I need to (be) brief, so regarding the red meat, yes, of course, avoid eatng animals that have been treated horribly, etc. But I’ve been vegetarian and vegan, it simply doesn’t work for everyone, it was not good for me…and know there are MANY other vegetarians/vegans that have or are currently realizing this and altering their diet accordingly. And this might constitute ”new-agey” for you, but I think you’re sharp enough that eventually you’ll get this also…many will. The Tarot, I’ve learned a lot from it, it’s (a) wonderful tool — many very wise ones agree (some psychologists advocate its use, Christian Northrup uses it…). Eating red meat is a relatively new thing for me. Just a few months…and I feel/look so much better (organic red meat). Oddly enough, I asked my Tarot this morning if the red meat was beneficial to my health and pulled two very positive cards. One was the Strength card, easily interpreted as, it’s making me stronger :) Indeed, I agree. And I’d wager many of the top Secret teachers and many other individuals who seem to manifest ”miracle” after miracle are also not vegetarian. On the other point, and this is the one that makes it not so simple…its about our emotions, and most especially the ”beliefs” that were established in our childhood/subconscious. Some positive, many not so much. It’s those things that we need to address, traumas and such from the past that are gumming up our energy (our thoughts/feelings). You can read an article I wrote a few years ago at my website, www.TarotwithLove.com.  It touches upon at least one way to start clearing these old beliefs out of our subconscious. I think writing about those old traumatic experiences is key (I’d advise some people to seek out an alternative therapist to work with). See my published articles page, ”Words + Emotions = Power.”  Most people have no idea how powerful their emotions are, and how much their old traumas are holding them back in life. Emotions are very powerful, and yet we repress/deny them, and consequently they stay in the body until we release them (acknoweldge, feel them…process them). And if we never do this, they create a lot of probs in our lives…not the least of which can eventually be serious dis-ease.
